Foster Friendly Businesses

We are excited to offer Foster Friendly, a NEW program that offers community and business support to SCCS foster families!

Support from the business community sends a powerful message: caring for children in Summit County is a shared responsibility, not one that foster families should carry alone. 

Beginning June 1, participating businesses (see below) are offering discounts and free items to SCCS foster families, providing some assistance and support they need to care for children.

Easy Instructions

 

  1. Visit any of the participating businesses (see ongoing list below*). Look for the Foster Friendly decal or sign.
  2. When visiting any Foster Friendly location, present your SCCS ID badge to receive the offer.

Request three required forms through your Foster Home Coordinator, which need to be signed by a SCCS supervisor for each child included in the free three-month family membership:

- SCCS Permission to Participate/Photograph Use/Emergency Medical Consent

- Three-Month Membership Agreement

- Akron Area Code of Conduct for YMCA Members, Participants, Guests & Third Parties

Bring the completed forms and your Foster Parent ID Badge to a participating YMCA location.

Additional placements during the trial can be added by requesting paperwork.

If you enjoy the membership, consider purchasing a family membership or inquiring about scholarships.

Important: All foster children must be accompanied by a foster parent at YMCA locations during the free membership period.
