The goal of Summit County Children Services’ Community Education programs is to promote understanding of child welfare issues in the community and to explain services offered by the agency to meet the needs of children and families at risk. The agency also presents required training on Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect to audiences of professionals who, by law, are mandated reporters of concerns of child abuse and neglect.

Trained staff present training programs, and staff and community volunteers participate in the agency’s Speakers Bureau, offering educational presentations for professionals and the community at large.

Summit County Children Services also coordinates a county-wide leadership development program for social services professionals, the Child & Family Leadership Exchange, which develops human services managers and is designed to also promote effective inter-agency collaboration.
