Holiday Donations

The holidays are all about the children the agency serves, and we are thankful for the support from so many businesses, organizations, places of worship, families and individuals who have helped make the holidays so much brighter over the past several years.

Plans are underway for the 2019 Holiday Programs. Below please find the information about the various programs and ways you can get involved and provide support. We invite you and your business, organization, place of worship or family to consider helping with one or more of these programs.

2019 EASTER BASKET DONATIONS

We’re in need of filled and wrapped Easter basket donations. SCCS will celebrate Easter with its foster families on Sunday, April XX. SCCS is seeking donations of approximately 1,500 filled Easter baskets for children served by the agency. View our Easter basket donations flyer.

2019 EASTER EGG HUNT EVENTS

SCCS is hosting TWO special Easter Egg Hunt events on Saturday, March XX, 10-11 a.m. and 11 a.m.-12 p.m. for the children and families the agency serves. Again, thank you to our generous donors and volunteers for supporting this activity. To learn more about other donor opportunities with SCCS, click here for an informational brochure.

2019 HOLIDAY TOY ROOM DONATIONS

For many families, selecting a new toy or gift donation for the agency's Toy Room makes a tremendous difference during the holidays. Donations of new toys and gifts are needed for boys and girls of all ages, but especially for infants and tweens (age 10-12). The Toy Room is open November 28 through December 22 (except Sundays). Donations made on or before this date are much appreciated.

NOTE: Toy donations for the 2019 Toy Room are needed by December XX. Click here for a Holiday Toy Room flyer.

HOLIDAY TOY ROOM VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteers are needed to help in the Holiday Toy Room during the month of December. Volunteers serve as “personal shoppers,” escorting parents and caregivers through the Toy Room, and help shoppers select toys and items to give to the children in their care. Volunteers also help receive and sort through donations and restock shelves.

If you are interested in volunteering in the Holiday Toy Room, please contact Sandy DeLuca at (330) 379-1994 or by email at sdeluca@summitkids.org.

2019 ADOPT-A-FAMILY PROGRAM

Through this program, donors “adopt” a child (or family) and provide the suggested gifts for individual children. Each child has a wish list of items they’d like to receive, and donors purchase, wrap and deliver the gifts to the agency on or before December 7. Click here for a Adopt-A-Family Program flyer.

For more information, please call (330) 379-2089 or email arenda@summitkids.org.

2019 TEEN GIFT CARD PROGRAM

Through this program, teens (ages 13+) who are receiving agency services are provided with $50 gift cards along with books and other stocking-stuffer items. Donations of department store gift cards are needed for this program, increments of $25 or $50 are preferred.

For more information, please call (330) 379-1994 or email sdeluca@summitkids.org.

2019 GROCERY GIFT CARD PROGRAM

Families in need often have difficulty providing for family meals, especially during the holidays. This program helps to ensure children and their families have the food they need during the holiday season. Donations of $20 or $25 gift cards are welcomed.

FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS

Financial contributions are always welcome during the holiday season! Donated funds are used to supplement all holiday programs and ensure children and families have what they need. Checks can be made payable to Summit County Children Services and either mailed or delivered to the agency at 264 S. Arlington Street, Akron 44306. Online contributions via Pay Pal are also accepted. Donate online now.

NOTE: In the event financial contributions exceed what is needed for these specific programs, the agency will use all remaining contributions to directly benefit children the agency serves.
