In an effort to find homes for waiting children, Summit County Children services has developed the Uniting Community, Church and Child (UCCC) Program, a new outreach initiative to educate the community about foster care and adoption and to recruit new foster and foster-to-adopt families. The goal is to partner with community and religious leaders, business owners and sororities and fraternities to find families to care for children who are in the temporary and permanent custody of Summit County Children Services.

To become a UCCC partner, your organization, place of worship or business makes the commitment to work jointly with Summit County Children Services to:

• Educate your members/customers about foster care and adoption and the critical need the agency has for more foster/adoptive families;
• Identify families within your respective group who are interested in becoming foster or foster-to-adopt families; and
• Raise the awareness of the agency’s fosterware and other adoption programs within your neighborhood community.

As a UCCC partner, there are several ways your organization, place of worship or business can get involved.

For Places of Worship:

• Host a UCCC-Sponsored Community Fellowship Luncheon - invite people within your place of worship who are interested in learning more about foster care and adoption to attend a catered luncheon (for up to 40 people) on a Sunday after your worship service.

• Invite a UCCC Representative to Speak During a Worship Service – A UCCC representative can talk about the importance of foster care and adoption and the critical need the agency has for more families for any length of time.

For Local Businesses:

• Distribute UCCC Literature and Give-Away Items to Your Customers – Put literature and/or give-away items promoting foster care and adoption on your counter or display an informational poster in your store.

• Have Your Staff Wear Promotional Buttons – Encourage your staff to wear buttons promoting foster care and adoption. Buttons will be provided.
