Lequan Lequan
Birthdate: December 2001

Lequan is a young teen that really enjoys the outdoors and would prefer to be outdoors most of the time.  He loves to play sports including basketball as well as ride bikes and skateboard.  He's persistent about learning new things, but takes time to learn.  He has been known to practice something endlessly until he’s mastered it.  Lequan stays busy no matter whether he's inside or out, so video games, listening to music or watching TV capture his attention indoors. He loves animals, so a furry companion is a big plus for him, too.

Lequan can have challenging behaviors in school and at home and can struggle to focus.  Lequan is in need of an adoptive family that can supply a lot of patience as he learns to accept clear and consistent boundaries, along with respecting adult authority.  He is hoping for a family who can be committed to him , no matter what.  Lequan has been known to push people away who try to get close to him, so a family will need to have the strength, endurance and commitment to weather his often tough exterior and build on the many positives he will bring to a home.

Noah also has a speech delay. He has an IEP at school to address this and participates in weekly speech therapy. Noah is in first grade and doing well in his class.

All four children have some emotional issues and are in regular counseling to address this. None of the children have any major behavioral concerns and they are all in good physical health. These children also have four other siblings with whom they maintain a close relationship. They have monthly visits with all of them and it would be in all of their best interest to maintain this schedule.

For more information about Natalie, Colt, Mariah and Noah you can contact their worker Lisa Poor at (330)379-1807 or at lpoor@summitkids.org.

Shannon Shannon
Birthdate: May 2001

Shannon would like you to know she loves music and TV (especially Hannah Montana, Camp Rock, High School Musical and cartoons); arts and craft projects; playing outside; and just talking. But she also wants you to know she hates cigarette smoke; is afraid of big dogs; and sometimes has problems getting along with kids her own age! Shannon is having trouble processing her placement in foster care and understanding why she is not with her biological family anymore. She has a hard time trusting others and becomes anxious and agitated when placed in new situations or with new people. Shannon can push people away through her words, actions, and choices. Services are being provided to help her learn to control her impulses. A family providing a high level of supervision and structure is best suited for Shannon. Shannon likes school because she likes her teachers and her friends. However, she finds it hard to focus on the lesson at hand and has a more difficult time learning than same-age peers. She receives educational services to help her in this area. She needs a family who will make learning fun and who has the desire to work with the school system in creating the right program for her needs. Shannon would do best in a family with no other children or in a family with an older child who is stable and has few special needs. Sharron will thrive with parents who can give her extra attention, support, guidance and time, so experience, patience and consistency are needed!

To learn more about Shannon, contact her worker, Gina Oriti, at (330) 996-1054, or at goriti@summitkids.org.

Summer & Avierre Summer & Avierre
Birthdate: August 2010 & February 2012

The three A's, adorable, adaptable and athletic are the best three words to describe Summer.  She has the ability to capture the heart of anyone.  She easily adapts to her environment and fits in.  She loves sports and is very athletic.  She was recently a cheerleader and needs lots of space to do her gymnastic skills.

Summer will light up the room with her presence.  She does well in school and with peers.  She has not had any significant issues since being in care.  She is knowledgeable and understands why she is no longer with her family.  She wants to have a family that will provide her and her brother with safety and security.  She wants to be loved and wants to love others.  It is a must that she remains with her brother.

Avierre is one of the most loving kids you will ever meet.  He will brighten your day with a smile and a hug.  He in turn wants to be loved back.  Avierre is as quick as lightening and wants to play basketball.  He enjoys video games, play time with his friends and sister.  He likes to go on vacations and explore different places.  He does well in school and is a quick learner.

Avierre comes with some challenges.  He can be challenging at times when things are out of place but has improved over time in this area.  He has a difficult time regulating his moods but again has learned to use positive tools to get back on track.  He likes everything to be fair and likes to maintain a structure.  The home that would like to welcome him will have to maintain love, structure and consistency and he will truly thrive.  He is very attached to his sister and they would have to be placed together.

If you have the energy and drive needed to keep up with this enthusiastic little girl and the love, structure and consistency for her loving little brother, we would love to hear from you!  For more information about Summer and Avierre, please contact their worker, Alaina Ondash, at (330) 996-1794 or at aondash@summitkids.org.
