AMERICA: America is a 2009 Lifetime Television film starring Rosie O’Donnell, Ruby Dee and Philip Johnson. It was directed by Yves Simoneau and written by Joyce Eliason. The film is based on the young adult novel America by E.R. Frank. Not currently rated.

 

 

 

 

 

 AUGUST RUSH: August Rush is a 2007 drama film directed by Kirsten Sheridan and written by Paul Castro, Nick Castle, and James V. Hart, and produced by Richard Barton Lewis. Rated PG for some thematic elements, mild violence, and language.

 

 

 

 

TO SAVE A LIFE: To Save a Life is a 2010 Christian drama film directed by Brian Baugh. The film was released theatrically in the United States on January 22, 2010, and was written by Jim Britts. It stars Randy Wayne, Deja Kreutzberg, Robert Bailey Jr., Steven Crowder and Sean Michael Afable. The United States rights were acquired by Samuel Goldwyn Films from New Song Pictures. Rated PG-13 for mature thematic elements involving teen suicide, teen drinking, some drug content, disturbing images and sexuality.
 
 

 

 

THE BLIND SIDE. Based on the true story of Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy who take in a homeless teenage African-American, Michael "Big Mike" Oher. Michael has no idea who his father is and his mother is a drug addict. Michael has had little formal education and few skills to help him learn. Leigh Anne soon takes charge however, as is her nature, ensuring that the young man has every opportunity to succeed. When he expresses an interest in football, she goes all out to help him, including giving the coach a few ideas on how best to use Michael's skills. They not only provide him with a loving home, but hire a tutor to help him improve his grades to the point where he would qualify for an NCAA Division I athletic scholarship. Michael Oher was the first-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2009 NFL draft. The movie is rated PG-13.

www.yougottabelieve.org  You Gotta Believe! is a homeless prevention program based out of New York that seeks to prevent homelessness by finding permanent moral and legal adoptive homes for teens and preteen children in foster care. On this website you can also find resources and articles.

www.davethomasfoundation.org provides free adoption resources. On this website you can read up on success stories, adoption myths and realities and much more.

P.U.R.E. The Parents Universal Resource Experts, Inc is an organization that was founde in 2001 by Sue Scheff.  For the past several years, Parent's Universal Resources has been assisting families by providing information and resources to parents with teenagers that are at risk.
